Pip Pyle morreu repentinamente em 28 de agosto de 2006, no hotel Gare du Nord quando chegava de um show em Groningen na Holanda. De causas naturais.

O líder da banda Gong, Daevid Allen disse o seguinte após escutar a triste notícia: “Ahhh Pip! O nosso antigo amigo aparentemente voltou para Paris depois de um grande show e morreu nos braços de sua namorada.
